I see Brahmashri Ramagopalan as a form of Gnanasambandam Peruman.

Thiru Ramagopalan sacrificed his whole life for the Hinduism's uprising, the art, and the Indian nation's cultural tradition. He was born in the holy birthplace of Gnanasambandam Peruman, Seerkaali, in 1927.  He transformed himself completely as a fighter in his life.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that he is an important reason for the ever-growing Hindi movement in Tamil Nadu.

He fought and remained in the field during the Emergency, known as the second freedom fight, which was declared by Indira Gandhi. He travelled to many places in disguise and inspired many youngsters to work for the greatness of India.

During Emergency, he stayed in the house of the former editor of Dinamani, Thiru A N Sivaraman, a relative of my grandfather, for some time. In the same period, Ramagopalan is also one among those, who fought Emergency by moving from one place to another under multiple identities.

He involved himself in the RSS movement from a young age and dedicated his entire service to Mother India.

Thiru. Ramagopalan is eloquent. Many youth used to be attracted by his speeches and later joined his movement.

In Chennai, my friend, Thiru.Ma. Venkatesan, approached Thiru. Ramagoplan to inaugurate a printing press. Thiru. Ramagoplan was to inaugurate function and Thiru. Ma. Venkaatesan invited me to speak in that function. I happened to be late for that function. Thiru. Ramagopalan waited for me before inaugurating the programme. Gopal ji always acted in consideration of others' problems.

When I was a youngster, I organized a meeting in my village. It was 40 years ago and at that time, villagers feared holding meetings of organizations such as RSS and Hindu Munnani. Even if such meetings were organized, only 10 to 15 people would attend it. I arranged the meeting with 15 chairs for the participants in a Vinayagar Temple on a private property. Surprisingly, many people from the surrounding area came and about 40 people attended the meeting. Thiru. Ramagopalan ji was overwhelmed. When he spoke that day, he said that the response of so many people to a meeting organized by a child youngster is gratifying. His words still ring in my ears. He would always call me a child.

He was steadfastly opposed to proselytizing and fought nationwide against it. He brought back many people to their mother religion. He belongs to the order of the Rishis and has to be worshipped as such.

The Rishis in our Country composed many slokams and puranas. Also, they were instrumental in driving social awareness for the welfare of the society.

Ramagoplan ji wrote inspiring songs in Tamil and Hindi. He committed himself fully to social change. If the songs about the Bharatha Matha are being sung in RSS and Hindu Munnani gatherings, he is the one who is instrumental to this.

Narabali kodutha veera vangamum panjalamum, Engal sindhuvai endru kanbom; Em janma boomi thayae, are songs that can melt the hearts of the listeners. Vedha Vignana Aaraichi maiyam compiled and published his songs into a book.

He translated the thoughts of the Guruji of RSS Golwalkar in Tamil. It is a book that speaks of the basic ideology of the RSS movement.

He wrote two Tamil books, Ezhumin vizhumin and Ooruku Uzhaithidal yogam. These two books are the collection of discourses of Swami Vivekananda.

Thiru. Ramagopalan fully immersed himself in the spiritual sphere as much as in social welfare. He is one of the main reasons for pujas being performed properly in the small temples in the villages of Tamil Nadu. The training imparted to the village priests helped this cause. Thiru. Ramagopalan ji is a good soul who worked for the betterment of all castes. Hindus will always cherish his fame.

He woke up daily in the morning, in fact at the Brahma muhurtham time, and would start his daily Pooja. The Pooja which starts at 4 o'clock will continue till 6 o'clock. He never missed his early morning pooja wherever he went and wherever he stayed.

Whoever came to meet him, he would ask their name and place, and focused on getting them engaged in the Hindu religious tradition. Gopalji is instrumental for the grand celebration of Vinayagar Chathurthi in Tamil Nadu which continues today.

He brought out the religious sentiment among the Hindus in Tamil Nadu like Tilak Maharaj created the massive uprising among Hindus by celebrating Vinayagar Chathurthi in Mumbai. He is the one who succeeded in holding the Vinayagar Chathurthi procession.

The country is important. The country is not just about welfare; but people must also live safely. Gopal Ji, who firmly believed that the RSS can establish, through the power of energetic youth, a Bharath that can stand tall in the world, is not alive with us today. I pray to God, may his soul attain moksha.
